Specifications & Instructions

Your tailbone shouldn't decide how long you get to sit. The SitWell's open coccyx cutout removes all contact with your tailbone so nothing is pressing on the spot that hurts. The contoured lumbar back supports your lower spine while the high-density foam holds its shape day after day — not just the first week.

  • Open coccyx cutout — zero contact with the tailbone. Your weight is redistributed to the areas that can handle it while the tailbone sits over open air.
  • Ventilated channel — airflow through the cutout keeps you cool and dry during long sits in the car, at church, or in your recliner.
  • Contoured lumbar back — supports the natural curve of your lower spine so you're not slumping forward or straining to sit upright.
  • Wraparound side bolsters — cradle the hips and reduce pressure on the sit bones so relieving your tailbone doesn't just move the pain somewhere else.
  • High-density memory foam — holds its shape through hours of daily use. This is not the foam that goes flat after a week and puts you right back on the hard seat underneath.
  • Waterfall front edge — no pressure behind the thighs, better circulation during long sits. No numbness, no tingling.
  • 17" × 16" × 14.5" (44 × 40 × 37 cm) — fits standard dining chairs, recliners, gliders, car seats, and wheelchair seats.
  • Removable cover — cover is removable and machine washable. Foam itself is not safe for washing.

Sit through the whole meal. Stay for the entire service. Make the drive without dreading it. Take it from room to room, chair to chair, or keep one in the car and one at home. A note on unboxing: memory foam has a slight odor when new — let it air out for a day or two and it disappears.

Karen Mitchell

Started standing during dinners and having trouble with long car rides. Finally don't have to explain to my husband why I keep shifting around.

I watch my grandkids three days a week. Getting up and down off the floor with them destroyed my tailbone. Now I keep this on my chair and actually look forward to chasing them.

Works great for car rides and road trips! Grocery runs we're starting to really take a toll on my tailbone but this cushion has helped so much.

Designed for comfortable sitting.

  • The cutout removes contact entirely.Your tailbone and perineum sit over open space. Nothing touches what hurts.

  • Contoured wells redistribute weight. Pressure shifts to your thighs and outer sit bones instead of the healing tissue.

  • The lumbar back holds your spine. Contours to your spine's natural curve, helping with lower back pain and tension.

It works with your body, not against it.

High-Density Memory Foam

Holds its shape through hours of daily use. It won't flatten out after two weeks like the cheap foam that came with your chair.

Relieves, Not Masks

Holds its shape through hours of daily use. It won't flatten out after two weeks like the cheap foam that came with your chair.

Use Anywhere

Desk chair, glider, couch, car. Two pieces you can use together or separately, wherever you happen to be sitting that day.

Frequently asked questions

Will this fit my chair?

The seat is 17" wide by 16" deep. Measure between your armrests before ordering — if your chair is narrower than 17", it won't drop in properly. It fits most dining chairs, office chairs, recliners, gliders, and standard car seats.

Why does sitting hurt more than it used to?

The fat pad that cushions your tailbone and sit bones thins with age. Less natural padding means more direct pressure on bone, which is why chairs that were fine ten years ago now hurt after twenty minutes. It's a physical tissue change, not just aging.

Does it help if I hurt my tailbone years ago?

Yes. Old coccyx injuries — from a fall, or from childbirth decades ago — often never fully heal and get worse as the padding over the area thins. The cutout means nothing presses on that spot at all.

Will it make getting up from a chair easier?

Yes. It adds about 2-3 inches of seat height, which reduces how far you have to push up from. Most people find standing up noticeably easier, especially from lower chairs and couches.

What about sciatica or back pain?

It helps the sitting aggravation. The contoured shape reduces pressure on the piriformis and sciatic nerve path, and the firm even surface keeps your pelvis level. It won't fix the underlying nerve compression, but it makes sitting more tolerable.

Does it help with hemorrhoids?

Yes. Same cutout, same idea — no direct pressure on the area. Common in many people over 40.

Can I use it in the car?

Yes, though check your seat width first. Compact cars with bolstered seats may be too narrow. The back piece can also push you slightly forward from the seatback, so some people use the seat cushion alone while driving.

Will the foam flatten out?

It's high-density memory foam, not the cheap open-cell foam in budget cushions. It holds its shape through daily use. If it flattens within 90 days, send it back.

It smells when I open it. Is that normal?

Yes. Memory foam has a mild odor when new. Unzip the cover and let it air out for a day or two — it fades completely.

What if it doesn't help?

Full refund within 90 days. No questions asked.

The relief was immediate. My doula suggested it. My perineum doesn't touch anything when I sit. I bring it everywhere. No shame.

M

Well designed cushion. Needs grip pads on the bottom.

4th degree tear. I dreaded every time I had to sit down.

P
Patricia Simon

I can actually focus on my baby instead of my pain. Every chair felt like sitting on broken glass.

L
Lucy Hawkins

Between stitches AND hemorrhoids sitting was impossible. The pain radiated from my tailbone down my legs. My tailbone and stitches hover over open space. Night feedings became bearable. I even brought it to my in-laws' house. Trust me on this one.

G
Grace Murray

I use it on my glider, my couch, and in the car. Still as firm and supportive as day one. Really impressed.

W
Wendy Walsh

My husband had to help lower me into chairs. Quality is noticeably better than other cushions I've tried. Severe tearing during delivery. The hospital gave me nothing. Not even a suggestion.

A
Alexis Roberts

Traveled with it to my parents' house for the holidays. My OB said to just take Tylenol. Thanks, really helpful. The foam hasn't flattened after months of daily use.

Good cushion for my tailbone pain. The cutout could be a touch wider.

C
Christine Martin

I sat through an entire meal with my family. This should be standard issue at hospitals. I pack it every time we go anywhere. Every chair felt like sitting on broken glass. C-section recovery.

Nicole Mason

My husband had to help lower me into chairs. Game changer. My pelvic floor PT recommended something like this.

D
Diane Stone

Every surface hurt. Hard chairs, soft couches, everything. Hemorrhoids hit me hard in my third trimester. My lactation consultant mentioned it. The open back means zero pressure on my tailbone.

F

The seat is good but the lumbar back is too small for me at 5'10". Feels designed for someone shorter.

M
Maria James

The only cushion that's actually helped Glad I bought it.

R
Rosa Wood

Tore during a vacuum-assisted delivery. Every chair felt like sitting on broken glass. It takes ALL the pressure off — not just some of it. Night feedings became bearable. This is the postpartum essential nobody talks about.

S
Sharon Graham

I stopped dreading feedings. I found this while desperately Googling at 3am.

A

Mixed feelings. The seat is comfortable but the cover slides off easily when I pick it up.

Between stitches AND hemorrhoids sitting was impossible. Every feeding was agony. My OB said to just take Tylenol. Thanks, really helpful. The open back means zero pressure on my tailbone. I can actually focus on my baby instead of my pain. I even brought it to my in-laws' house. Quality is noticeably better than other cushions I've tried. Every mom in my birth group has one now because I wouldn't shut up about it.

Then I found this. My husband had to help lower me into chairs. The donut from the pharmacy didn't help at all. Every new mom needs this.

W
Willow Stewart

I almost cried the first time I sat on it because it didn't hurt. My coccyx felt broken by 35 weeks. Traveled with it to my parents' house for the holidays. I was living my life standing up because sitting wasn't an option. The cutout is in exactly the right spot.

I could actually sit through a full feeding. I'm 8 months postpartum and my tailbone still hasn't recovered. I wish I'd known about this sooner.
